Last week, Mrs. Cruz's second grade class made homemade tortillas after reading "The First Tortilla" by Rudolfo Amaya. Students practiced their measurement skills with a real-life, hands-on application in addition to reinforcing their literacy skills. The week culminated with students and their families preparing fresh tortillas.
